As a parent, you want your child to get a good education. In Canada, most children go to public schools that are funded through tax revenues.

All lessons are taught in English or French. You can choose to send your child to a private school, however you will have to pay the school fees. A few parents also homeschool their children.

It is important to enroll your children into school as soon as possible. Visit the nearest school or call the school board and find out the name and address of the school that your children will attend.

To enrol the child you will need:

  • Your child's birth certificate
  • Confirmation of landing documents (or other immigration documents)
  • passport
  • health records (immunization certificate)
  • school records if applicable.

The school will then decide what grade to put your child.

The Canadian education system is wholesome. Apart from the academic aspect of learning, the schools also offer extra curricular activities including sports, games and other activity clubs. Once your child has completed high school (secondary school) they will want to pursue a career through post secondary education.
