Manitoba is located to the east of Canada. It is one of the Prairie Provinces. It is the only province in Canada with an Arctic deep-water seaport along the Hudson Bay. This is the only northern link between Canada and Asia. The capital city of Manitoba is Winnipeg.

According to Statistics Canada (2007) Manitoba's population is about 1,190, 400. Half of this population lives in Winnipeg. Residents of this province are known as Manitobans.

Manitoba borders Ontario to the east, Nunavut and Hudson Bay to the north, Saskatchewan to the west and the US' states of North Dakota and Minnesota to the south.
