Northwest Territories
The Northwest Territories (NWT) is one of North America's last wilderness area. It is a territory of Canada. Yellowknife is the capital of this territory. According to Statistics Canada (2006), the population of this territory is an estimate 41,464. It offers winding rivers, deep valets, pine forests, rushing waterfalls, ice capped Arctic islands and majestic mountains. Separated by mountains to the west is Yukon, the North Pole to the north, Nunavut to the east and Alberta to the south. 75% of the Northwest Territories is a rocky region which stretches across most of Canada.
The NWT has geological resources including diamonds, gold and natural gas. Because of these resources, NWT is the richest territory in Canada. It has a per capita GDP of $92,923.

NWT is famous for the aurora borealis (northern lights). These flashes of light brighten the sky in a colourful display of white, red blue or green. Other attractions include fishing, canoeing, camping, skiing, and white water rafting to name a few. The Aboriginal peoples make and sell arts and crafts including jewelry, carvings, fur dolls, moccasins, and embroidered clothing
