Shopping
Shopping is a lot of fun in Canada. Many Canadian cities have exciting malls and shopping centres that contain department stores that often may either specialize in one type of product or a variety of products. Malls are usually on bus routes, but if you are driving, there is always free parking space.

You also have the option of purchasing the products you need over the Internet. If you choose to do so, ensure that the site is a secure.

As you begin to settle in Canada, you will come to appreciate smart shopping which involves budgeting and buying a good product at a good price. It will seem strange at first, but do not worry. There are laws in Canada that protect you from unsafe goods and services. Make sure you get a receipt for the goods you buy.

Food
When you come to Canada, you will have to make changes to some of the ways in which you purchase or cook your food. Most Canadians purchase their food at supermarkets. Others purchase their food from convenient stores, smaller stores and specialty stores.

In areas with established immigrant communities, you might be able to purchase food from your home countries in some stores. Many cities offer open air markets (farmers markets), where fresh fruit and vegetables and other produce that is grown in the area is sold.

Clothing
Most Canadian put on the same clothing as Americans or western Europeans. But you are welcome to put on whatever style of clothing that you want.

You will notice that in parts of Canada that experience extreme weather during their seasons, people will have different types of clothes for winter and summer. It is important to always keep warm during winter whenever you are outside. Winters in Canada can get severely cold and may cause frost bite to exposed parts of your body. Most winter clothing includes winter boots, warm windproof jackets, scarves, gloves or mittens a warm hat that will cover your ears and several layers of undergarments.

Every season, large stores and clothing stores display and sell clothes that are in season.
