You have received your visa to Canada. What next?
A lot of visa offices will give you a three month to one year visa. Take this time to prepare yourself. You will need to look into
Get all your documents translated into English or French by a qualified translator before you leave for Canada.
You will also bring enough money to cover living expenses for you and your family. You may be asked to show proof of your funds.
Before you leave, make sure you have
- A valid passport or travel document.
- A Canadian visa
- Copies of all the items you are bringing with you
- Copies of all other items that are arriving later
- If you are importing you vehicle, make sure that it meets the Canadian safety standards.
You will also make sure you have all your important documents including birth certificates, marriage certificates, school records, degrees or certificates, letters of references from your employers, immunization and vaccination records and other health records, Drivers license and a reference from your insurance company, among other important documents.

To be better prepared to look for work in Canada, have your credentials evaluated and compared with the Canadian education system. If you have any documents in a language other than English or French, you should have them translated and then evaluated. There are several organizations that can evaluate your educational documents for a fee.
