Do you want to work in Canada temporarily?
Every year, tens of thousands of people come to Canada to work temporarily in Canada. If you want to work in Canada you may or may not require a work permit to work in Canada. Depending on the kind of work you will be doing, the processing times for your work permit application will vary. Even if you do not need a work permit to work in Canada you might still need to meet other requirements to enter Canada.
Your employer will have to get approval from Human Resources and Social Development Canada, if they can fill the job with a foreign worker. There are certain jobs that do not require a labour market opinion. Even if your employer gets approval to fill the job with a foreign worker, you will still have to meet the general requirements for entering Canada. Your work permit is not an immigration document and will therefore not allow you to live in Canada. To live in Canada permanently you will have to qualify under certain skilled worker categories such as Live-in caregivers, who can stay in Canada if they meet certain requirements.
If you want your family to come with you to Canada, they must apply to do so. They must meet all the requirements for temporary residents to Canada.
